An Intro, and Maybe Later, a Bio

An Intro, and Maybe Later, a Bio
I th?nk I wrote this in 2005. I have tried (and quit) very many times to write something that I think Shel Silverstein would like. That's not a sad story, and I am not spitting on myself. I just mean to say that I have a history of starting and stopping to write, wishing I wrote more often, beginning (and un-beginning) again, and so on. I am grateful for the people in my life who consistently say some version of, "Go ahead and feel free to try again." I believe that you should be glad for those people in your life, too. If you do not have any of those people, I would like to do my tiny part to fill that void of loving encouragement and tell you to go ahead and feel free to try again.

Growing Smaller is an independent publication launched in 2026 by (ME. I am going to go by) Pachomios Browne (because it's a playful kind of secretive. I think that the idea of writing as myself, but under a character, seems fun). He is just going to write for a while and play
in the spaces where letters go,
between where letters go,
with the words that letters make,
the meanings those words make together,
and the spaces between those meanings.
I don't want to muddle or confuse, or (what did the kids say several years ago and still sometimes say now when going retro? Ah!) be a sweat at trying to be different.

Like you, there are things in my life that hang heavily over my shoulders – that make my heart beat too slowly or too quickly – that make me want to stay in bed and not enter the world. But every day I say two prayers and then sit up, get up, and start doing the work. Writing like this is delightful to me, and, also like you, I am swimming in a Main of unfantastic things I could (be) consume(d by). There are many monsters who would steal not only what peace and creativity and wonder I have, but even the opportunities to look for those things. This space is a base for me to place some belongings in an interface, where maybe we can describe some aspects of our names. Here's one of mine:

People aren't monsters; monsters are monsters.
